OUR PROGRAMS

SOW GARDENING EDUCATION:

The SOW 4 Change Garden Team consists of at-risk youth ages 8 to 18.  These youth participate in the SOW Community Urban Garden Skills and Career Building Program. The mentees develop the awareness of the need to positively impact themselves, their families, community, and the world socially, emotionally, environmentally, academically, and financially.  The life skills, careers, and educational knowledge that the mentees acquire from farming will provide them with the tools they need to better take care of themselves and their families for generations to come.

SOW ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM:  This focuses on supporting parents in achieving their own goals related to basic education, workforce development, or

entrepreneurship.

SOW PARENT CHATS:

Parents are supported in their role as their child's first and most important teacher by equipping them with techniques and tools related to parenting.

SOW & NURTURE GARDEN TIME

There is a pressing need for a child to be nurtured toward positive social and emotional growth and education early. This is especially needed in inner city families.  SOW & Nurture Garden Time provides parents with the opportunity to build strong connections with their children. The SOW & Nurture Garden Time focuses on early childhood education for children ages 0-7 yrs. Parents join in educational learning activities combining gardening and literacy.

SOW LIV (LIFE IS VALUABLE):

#STOPPULLINGTHETRIGGER

Juveniles in the Juvenile Court System participate in the SOW Community Urban Garden Skills and Career Building Program. The goal is to rehabilitate the participants, fostering accountability for their actions.  Through farming they begin to recognize that every life is valuable, including their own.

SERVICE LEARNING:

Mentees in the Boys to Men and Raising Queens Program organize and participate in service learning projects.  This initiative fosters social and emotional development by engaging them in community activities.  Through community interaction, mentees reflect on their actions and cultivate behaviors that benefit others.  Parents are also encouraged to serve alongside their child.
